Is Grokbot down? Status and fixes
Last updated October 10, 2026 · By Joe Apfelbaum
Check the official status page at status.cursor.com and look at the Grok Bot row. The app does not show service status, so that page is the place to check. (Cursor Help: FAQs) If there is an incident, wait for it to be resolved, then send your message again. Do not Reset the Bot's computer during an incident.
Grokbot School cannot see live status. This page explains where to look and what to do.
How do I check if Grokbot is down?
- Grok Bot service status: status.cursor.com (Grok Bot row). You can subscribe to updates there. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
- xAI services: xAI's release notes point to status.x.ai for status across xAI products. (xAI release notes)
- What changed recently: the Grok Bot changelog lists new features and fixes in each release.
What does "model provider is overloaded" mean in Grokbot?
It means the AI model service behind your Bot was too busy to answer at that moment. Cursor's advice: if the status page shows no incident and you see "Bot failed to respond" or "Model provider is overloaded," wait a moment and send the message again. If the Bot still does not reply, fully quit and reopen Grok Bot. If it keeps happening, contact support with the request ID. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
Why did my Bot stop and say I hit my usage limit?
That is not an outage. Your weekly usage is used up, and it resets each week. To keep going now, turn on on-demand usage or move to a bigger plan. (Cursor Help: FAQs) See our pricing guide for how to set a spending cap first.
What if the computer says "Reconnecting"?
Cursor's order of fixes for "Reconnecting" or "Couldn't Reach Grok Bot's Computer": wait and choose Retry, then fully quit and reopen, then Update, then Recover. "Use Reset only last," because it can lose very recent changes. (Cursor Help: FAQs) Also, do not install a VPN on the Bot's computer. To use your own network, turn on Settings, Computer, "Route traffic through this computer." (Cursor Help: FAQs)
Grokbot troubleshooting checklist
- Check status.cursor.com for a Grok Bot incident.
- If there is an incident, wait. Do not Reset or reinstall.
- Resend your message (messages sent during an incident are not retried for you).
- Fully quit the app (on Mac, Quit from the menu bar) and reopen.
- Update the app.
- Check Settings, Usage and Billing in case you hit your weekly limit.
- If a website blocks your Bot with a captcha, sign in yourself on the Bot's computer, or route traffic through your computer. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
- Still stuck? Contact support while signed in, with your account email, app version, a screenshot and the request ID. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
Is it Grokbot or is it my internet?
Grokbot's work runs in the cloud, not on your laptop, so your home internet usually only affects the app talking to the service. If the app will not load at all, try another network or your phone. If the app loads but the Bot is stuck on a website, the problem is more likely the website blocking cloud computers than an outage.
Where are the Grokbot release notes and changelog?
The official changelog is at x.ai/changelog/bot. It listed version 0.68.1 on October 7, 2026. (Grok Bot changelog) xAI's developer release notes also announced Grok Bot. (xAI release notes)
