Grokbot pricing: how much Grok Bot costs per month
Last updated October 10, 2026 · By Joe Apfelbaum
There is no standalone Grokbot subscription. Grok Bot is included with eligible plans that cost $20 to $300 per month for individuals (Cursor Pro at $20 is the cheapest) or $40 to $120 per seat per month for Cursor Teams. Every plan includes weekly usage. If you run out, extra work can be billed on demand by model and token cost, but only if on-demand is turned on. (x.ai/bot, Cursor Help)

Usage descriptions are quoted from Cursor's plans and billing page. Neither xAI nor Cursor publishes the actual size of each weekly allowance, so we cannot tell you how many tasks a plan covers. SuperGrok Lite does not include Grok Bot. (Cursor Help)
Does Grokbot have a free trial?
Yes, but it is a usage credit, not a set number of free days. Cursor's help center says the trial "is a usage credit rather than a set number of days, though a 7-day window also applies." The credit is used up by agent steps and tokens, so one large task can use most or all of it, and used credit is not restored. The Grok Bot trial "never becomes a paid plan," and there is no charge to cancel it. (Cursor Help: Plans and billing)
One catch: an App Store introductory offer started in the iPhone app is a different thing. Apple runs it, and it turns into a paid Apple subscription unless you cancel in Apple ID, Subscriptions before it ends. (Cursor Help)
How does Grokbot usage work?
Every paid plan includes weekly usage that resets each week. When it runs out, Grok Bot either stops until the reset or keeps going as on-demand usage, billed through Cursor, if you have on-demand turned on. xAI's FAQ says on-demand is "billed from model and token cost." (xAI Docs FAQ, Cursor Help)
Usage is metered on your Cursor account, and the same bucket is shared between desktop and phone. (Cursor Help) Bigger, longer jobs use more. Many Bots running routines all day use a lot more.
Does Grokbot use Cursor credits?
Grok Bot usage lives on your Cursor account. If you are on a Cursor plan, it draws from that plan's Grok Bot allowance. xAI's announcement said Grok Bot "comes with its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plans, so anything you hand off to a Bot won't count against your existing usage." (xAI announcement) On-demand Grok Bot usage beyond the weekly grant is billed through Cursor and counts toward your Cursor on-demand monthly limit. (Cursor Help) On Teams, Grok Bot draws from the seat's usage allowance. Check your own account under Settings, Usage and Billing to see your meters.
Do SuperGrok and Cursor plans stack?
No. This surprises a lot of people. Cursor says "a Cursor plan and a SuperGrok or X Premium+ link do not stack." If you have both, Grok Bot uses whichever grant has more usage. (Cursor Help, xAI Docs FAQ) Also, a SuperGrok link is permanent. You cannot unlink it or move it to another Cursor account, so sign in with the right account first. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
Why do some people say Grokbot costs $30 a day?
Because on-demand usage has no fixed price. One Reddit user wrote: "Burning through 30$ in 1 day for normal usages is absurd. That's probably 400$ a month." (r/grok) We cannot verify that person's setup, but the mechanism is real: when weekly usage runs out and on-demand is on, every step a Bot takes is billed. Cursor also warns that the monthly cap "is not a hard stop in the middle of a run," so a running task can finish a little past it. (Cursor Help)
How to keep Grokbot usage costs down
- Set an on-demand monthly limit on day one. In Grok Bot open Settings, On-demand monthly limit. On the web go to cursor.com/dashboard, Spending, Monthly Limit. Or turn on-demand off so Bots stop at the weekly limit. (Cursor Help: FAQs)
- Start small. Cursor's own advice for the trial: "Start small and scope tasks tightly, then scale up once you see how much each task uses." (Cursor Help)
- Check usage before big jobs. Look at the plan screen before long research or browser-heavy tasks.
- Use connectors instead of clicking. A connector is "often more reliable than clicking through a website," and fewer failed clicks means fewer wasted steps. (xAI Docs)
- Avoid noisy routines. Cursor warns that broad triggers "create noise, consume usage." Use narrow triggers, like one channel or one keyword. (Cursor Docs)
- Save good work as a skill. A clear, tested skill means the Bot does not have to rediscover the steps each time.
- Pause Bots you are not using. Fewer always-on routines means less background usage.
- Pick the right plan, not the biggest one. If you hit the weekly limit every week, compare the next plan up against your on-demand bill.
Can I get a refund for Grokbot?
Grok Bot has no separate subscription, so refunds follow whoever billed you: Cursor for Cursor plans, xAI for SuperGrok, X for X Premium+, and Apple or Google for in-app purchases. Cursor says on-demand usage already consumed is not refundable. (Cursor Help)
